Music photography is about more than simply documenting a performance it is about capturing the atmosphere, emotion, and energy that make live music unforgettable. From intimate acoustic sessions in small venues to high-energy concerts and festival stages, my approach focuses on creating images that feel authentic, cinematic, and full of life. Every performance has its own rhythm and personality, and my goal is to preserve those moments in a way that connects viewers to the experience of being there.

Working across Belfast and Northern Ireland, I have photographed musicians, bands, and live events in a variety of environments, adapting quickly to changing lighting conditions, fast-moving performers, and unpredictable stage setups. Live music photography requires a balance of technical precision and creative instinct, especially when working in low light or crowded venues. I aim to capture not only the performance itself, but also the interaction between artists and audiences, the atmosphere of the venue, and the emotion behind the music.

The approach style is heavily influenced by documentary photography, focusing on genuine moments rather than staged images. Whether shooting promotional portraits, backstage moments, rehearsals, or live performances, I look for images that tell a story and reflect the personality of the artist. Black and white imagery often plays an important role in my work, helping to emphasise mood, contrast, and emotion, while colour photography allows the lighting and energy of a performance to take centre stage.

This portfolio features a selection of music photography from concerts, live performances, and artist shoots, showcasing my passion for documenting the creativity and atmosphere of live music culture.
